Peter Komolafe (DipFA, CII MP) - Biog
Peter is a highly commended financial expert, financial coach and TV personality whose personal journey is the driving force behind his passion for helping ordinary people create financial security through positive financial habits.
Peter was brought up by foster parents and at 8 years old was shipped over to Nigeria for a 2-week holiday that turned into 10 years! He returned to his foster parents' doorstep unannounced at 18 with the dream to become a surgeon, but could not pursue his ambition for funding reasons. He subsequently found himself sleeping on the streets and later spiralling into debt.
In 2006, Peter got his first job in financial services as a cashier at The Portman Building Society (now Nationwide) and quickly started to move through the ranks. Through his 15-year career, Peter has worked in retail banking, corporate banking and wealth management. During this time, he has held key roles at some of the biggest financial institutions, including Natwest/RBS, MetLife, St James Place and Investec Wealth & Investment.
In 2020, Peter founded Conversation of Money (a YouTube Channel and weekly Podcast) to have conversations he wished someone had with him when he was in his twenties. Since launch, they have both gained over 26m impressions and over 1.8m views and downloads. Having struggled with debt through his twenties and thirties. Peter is passionate about sharing the knowledge he has gained through his career and the personal lessons he has learned from being fostered, homeless and working his way through the ranks to the executive team of a Fortune 100 company in Canary Wharf.
In 2022, Peter was approached to appear as the financial expert on Channel 4s, Secret Spenders. He is also now part of the Steph’s Packed Lunch team on Channel 4 and hosts their “Cost of Living” phone-in clinic every Tuesday and has become a regular contributor to Lorraine on ITV too. Peter contributes to news stories with GB News, The Express, The Sun, The Times, The Voice and The BBC World Service.
